The short version

• Your PDF, PowerPoint or notes file is opened in your browser. The file itself is never uploaded.
• When you make cards, the text of the pages you selected is sent to us and on to an AI model to write the cards. When you scan a diagram, that image is sent to a text-recognition (OCR) service. Neither the text, the images nor the resulting cards are stored by us once the request is finished.
• Your work in progress (cards, images, masks) is saved only in your own browser, so it survives a refresh. “Start over” deletes it.
• The .apkg deck is built in your browser. We never see the deck you download.
• The free tools under /tools (Quizlet converter, card styler, cloze formatter) work entirely in your browser: what you paste is never sent to us. The cloze formatter keeps your draft, and the styler your last style, in this browser's local storage until you clear it.
• The AnkiForge Cloze Clipper browser extension stores the text you clip, your deck name and one setting in the extension's own storage in your browser. It has no access to the pages you visit beyond the text you select and send to it, and it sends nothing to us or anyone else: no account, no statistics.

Account

Signing in (Google or a one-time email code) is handled by our shared sign-in service. We receive your email address, name (if Google provides one) and an account id. We keep a record of your credit balance and transactions so we can charge and refund correctly. For each paid run we keep a small record — when it ran, how many pages or images, its cost and whether it was refunded — and, for diagram scans, the position of the detected labels and their recognised text so the result can be shown to you; these records hold no page text and no images.

Processors

• Cloudflare hosts the site and the services behind it.
• AI model providers (currently Google Gemini models, reached through OpenRouter) receive the page text you choose in order to write cards.
• OCR providers (currently Baidu PaddleOCR and Zhipu AI) receive the diagram images you choose to scan. Their copy is deleted when the scan finishes, and our processing records are deleted within a day.
• Waffo processes payments as merchant of record. We never see your card details.

Usage statistics

We count which steps of the tool were used and whether they worked (for example “cards generated”, “deck downloaded”), with coarse numbers such as “6–20 pages”. These events never include file names, text, images, card content or your email, and they are not linked across visits. If your browser sends Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track, no statistics are sent at all. There are no advertising or third-party analytics scripts.

Cookies

One cookie keeps you signed in, and two short-lived cookies protect sign-in and checkout. No tracking cookies.
